Appreciation and recognition to all the committed supporters who donated their professional and personal time to the Emergency Preparedness event held over the Memorial Day weekend in Cleopas R. Johnson Park. The list includes:
C@A Office of Emergency Preparedness for their presence, diligence and time
C@A Dept of Parks & Rec for providing the Play Mobile staff and equipment
Park Pride Consultant/Landscape Engineer Patrick Handel for his unique experience and park design knowledge
Atlanta Housing for its generous contribution of literature, on behalf of the National Book Rich program
PADS (Policing Alternatives & Diversion Initiative) for their information and impact
RICE (Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs) for their participation, aid and assistance
Westside Historic Gardens for the outpouring of nutritional education and gardening demonstration
The Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing for their supply of drinks and snacks
Mission Accomplished Outreach Ministries for pre-planning and run-of-show management
Central United Methodist Church who stepped in to represent 4 area churches serving within the AUCNA
Flipper Temple AME Church for loan of vendor tables and chairs
Strive Transit Atlanta's Eco-Friendly shuttle transportation---driving, thriving and offering rides
If this sounds like an impressive list of local service providers, then you missed this totally free experience of meeting each of them and enjoying a holiday in the park. This event was designed to acquaint you and your family with the subject of being prepared for unexpected natural and even man-made incidents. No worries though, the whole community will have another chance on National Night Out 08/05/2025 (the first Tuesday in August).
SAVE THE DATE! Hope to see you there!
In service,
Wanda Whiteside
